This property consists of four rooms in an old plantation style house near the beach. The home was built in 1948 and was once the residence of a local pastor. In 2001 it was restored to its current all-suite, cozy inn in the middle of Waimea town just off the main highway. The red dirt of the area often coats the house’s exterior, but the inside is clean, though it could use some updating. Each suite is decorated in its own way with a separate sitting room in keeping with the old Hawaiian style. One second-story unit has an ocean view. Another first-floor suite has a large double Jacuzzi tub. There is one ADA-accessible room here, as well. There is no phone on the property. There are no private lanais here either, but there is a nice front porch. No laundry on site. No daily maid service here, but if you ask for a linen change or more coffee, they are happy to oblige.

At this 27-acre resort, peace and privacy are yours—the trade-off is relative isolation given the location on the extreme west side. It started out as a dairy in the mid-1800s and then was a sugar cane plantation until it re-opened as a hotel in 1994. There is much feeling of ‘ohana (family) here, and you will definitely experience the aloha spirit. With their location so close to the mouth of the very reddish Waimea River, swimming in the murky ocean water is pretty poor at this marginal beach. The coconut grove, banyan trees and hammocks scattered about add to the quiet charm of this property, and this is a good place to watch the sunset over the private island of Ni‘ihau. They have a few activities on site, such as sand volleyball, bocce ball and shuffleboard. Many weddings take place on the grounds here.

This family-run hotel was finished in 2011 and consists of four buildings right in the heart of Waimea town with easy free parking. A good option if you don’t want to stay up in colder Waimea Canyon. The rooms are all clean with modern amenities including a good-sized fridge, except for a phone (there’s a pay phone outside the office) and room safe. DVD players upon request. The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable. Two resident cats are fun and playful. Most rooms share one long lanai where you may be able to catch a glimpse of the ocean from the second floor rooms. Connecting rooms are available. A decent property, priced about what it’s worth. Housekeeping service every three to four days. There is one ADA accessible room on site. Rooms (approx. 350 sq. ft.) are $149–$198, suites with full kitchens (approx. 500 sq. ft.) are $289–$325. 3-night minimum on suites.
