We’ve noticed a trend of more and more trendy hotels popping up in Waikiki, and Romer House follows that trend with its trendiness. It’s the kind of spot that makes us feel cooler than we are (or maybe helps us discover how cool we actually are?) The mod décor still feels beachy although some areas feel slightly too severe for a tropical vacation (there’s quite a bit of cement).
Our main knock on this place is the lame pool area. It’s a small rectangle that doesn’t look very appealing (others must agree since we’ve never seen anyone taking a dip). Still, we like this spot for the traveler who wants a more modern, sleek take on the traditional tropical vibe offered by so many of the more classic hotels in the area. And what adds to that sleekness? That this is an 18+ hotel (the first and currently only one in Waikiki). If you want splashing and the sounds of children laughing (and crying), then go elsewhere. If you want to soak in the blissful stillness of adulthood, you’ve found the place.
