Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach poolside with waikiki beach ocean seen in the background

Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach

Isn’t it great when a longtime hotel finally gets a ton of money thrown at it for a new look? That’s exactly what $115 million did for these two towers.

The hotel sits directly across the street from Kuhio Beach Park, making the views from their oceanfront rooms stunning. Rooms have a pale sand-colored modern theme, which sets off the ocean color really well. They have Keurig coffee makers with free pods provided daily and mini fridges in every room. Bathrooms have either showers only or tub/shower combos, all with rainshower heads (some have Washlet toilets). We think the hallway carpets look like unfinished cement instead of the “sand washed by water” theme they were going for. Oh, well–if that’s the only thing we have to nitpick, then this place must be pretty great (and it is).

Forgo the Waikiki Aquarium and stroll into the lobby here–an impressive two-story open floor plan backed by their trademark 280,000-gallon fish paradise. They’ll let you know when feeding time is, if you feel inclined to watch.

The pool area has a saltwater infinity pool with tons of comfy chairs, fire pits and poolside private cabanas for rent. There is also a family pool and hot tub. Their restaurants and pool bar are located on this level, too, making the pool area feel like more of a destination (which it sort of becomes at night with live music and a cocktail scene). They have tons of shops off the lobby level, plus a health spa and 24-hour fitness room (part of the resort fee). Historical information is scattered about because this site is part of the Queen Lili‘uokalani Land Trust, plus there some cultural activities take place here.

Truly, this is a resort easy to recommend. Connecting rooms available. Rooms are 175–355 sq. ft., suites are 370–615 sq. ft.
