101 Waianuenue Ave, Hilo
A very nice hostel with bright, very clean rooms and shared spaces, including the kitchen. You can tell they really put in the extra effort. On the second floor of a historic building built in 1911 on a busy corner in downtown Hilo, so expect road noise. Lockers available for the dorms, but BYOT (bring your own towel). There’s a TV and DVD player in lobby (they only play movies). They do have fans, but this place can get hot, especially in sweltering summer months. Dorms are $30 per person/per night, up to six people per dorm. Private rooms with fridge (approx. 200 sq. ft.) are $79 (private bath with towels) per night, one to two people per room or an additional $10 charge per extra body. If you have a large group, they may rent you the whole place.
