A small, quiet (and they like it that way) oceanfront inn north of downtown Lahaina. This used to be the Makai Inn, but new owners have been making changes and slowly upgrading rooms. It’s not a bad place to stay considering the proximity to the ocean, the kitchen and the price. Pretty basic. There’s A/C in six units, no TVs, no phones (except a courtesy phone and computer by the office). Decor is old-style Hawaiiana mixed with some more modern touches. Nice lawn in the middle of the property opens up views for most rooms. Adults-only (21 and over) resort because its seawall by the ocean made their insurance company nervous, or so we were told. Housekeeping is every other day. There is no beach here. 1/1s (400 sq. ft.) are $139–$239. 2/1s (800 sq. ft.) are $199–$269. 3-night minimum.
