This hostel is about 8 miles from Waipi‘o Valley. This place is nearly 100 years old and some common areas look like not much has changed since then or in the many years we have been reviewing them. Rooms are also feeling worn. Upstairs rooms are best with TVs and ocean views. No phones. They have low-flow toilets, but the showers need replacing. This is not a party place, and you probably will hear your neighbor. No laundry facilities. For the hostel part, no lockers, but they provide sheets and towels. The breakfast is very basic, so skip it and head up the road. Rooms (approx. 150 sq. ft.) are $99–$139; suites (approx. 250 sq. ft.) are $149–$169. On the hostel side: Beds are $25 per person; small private room with single bed is $35 (but it’s an additional; $10 if you need the basics like a towel and bedding). Taxes included in rates.
